Remembering Tyipa

“Yesterday I farewelled my heart dingo Tyipa bear. The journey we had together was amazing. Tyipa along with his siblings, Cooinda (deceased) and Gunyah were an absolute delight, entertaining visitors, educating us, and great ambassadors. Especially my boy, who was always welcoming with a happy wag of his tail and smiling, posing for photos and pats. He also played an integral part in the ongoing research of the dingo genome. Tyipa stood out to me from a cheeky 4 week old pup and we have been inseparable since, he was a big boy and full of mischief yet never did any wrong. Our bond was sealed and our years together are memories I will treasure.

“Tyipa” aboriginal for “Moon”. Tyipa is the fourth generation pup bred in the sanctuary of this particular line. His mother is Mirri Mirri and father is Maka (both deceased from natural old age). Tyipa has gone through puppy education and is a well balanced public figure, perfect for getting out and about promoting Dingoes.

Tyipa loves to dig holes and hides in the enclosure, he’s wonderfully camouflaged after jumping in his cool pool and immediately rolling around in the mud. He’s one of the few dingoes who doesn’t mind a bath and groom. Tyipa has a wonderful temperament, similar to a big, cuddly Labrador and eats like one too!

His sister is Cooinda, brother is Gunyah. Cooinda and Tyipa have been to numerous functions; nursing homes, schools, posing for photos and enjoying cuddles and attention. All 3 siblings have been great ambassadors raising awareness about the Native dog as well as raising much needed funds for our sanctuary.
